It was a gala event held in the village of La Selva Beach on the Fourth of July, 2021 when James Rhodes, known as Jazbo to many, had the honor of being the Grand Marshall of the July 4th parade. His brother and sister, Ron and Barbara were lucky enough to ride in the official Grand Marshall vehicle with him, as Jim stood in the sun roof, waving to and greeting his fellow La Selvans in the first community activity in over a year not canceled by the dreaded SARS-CoV-2 virus. The vehicle, a new orange Jeep Rubicon, was expertly piloted by family friend Vic Marani.

La Selva Beach Forever
All Fall Down
A popular past time in old La Selva Beach before computers and cell phones was rolling down the hill. Our house had a nice lawn and when the neighbors kids would come over, we’d all fall down on the grass and see who could make it to the bottom of the hill with the fewest bruises. These shots are from an 8mm movie reel.
Happy People
It looks like everyone is having a great time. From the paneling, it seems to be at the Les Rhodes Home in La Selva Beach, probably soon after moving in, in 1960.
From left to right, Ralph, Lynn, Mildred, Craig, Jean, Don, Cecil.
Front row, Carolyn, Betty, Barbara, and Les. Winelle must have been taking the picture, I was only 2.
Prepare the House 2
As of Jan 31, 2011, the house has been rented! Yay !
The front yard has had a little landscaping done.
A few of the after effects of the new roof needed to be cleaned up.
The new dish washer is in place and the plumber added an air gap, too.
The backyard has been cleared of some old bushes that grew into trees. And the basketball pole has recently been removed also.

Let’s vote on a color for the new front door.
